Police arrested and charged 28-year-old Alden Pauline III of Mountain View for firearm and drug offenses.
On Monday, officers from the Hilo Special Enforcement Unit, who were in upper Puna on an unrelated incident, saw Pauline get out of the front passenger door of a vehicle at Heno Street residence in Mountain View.
According to police, when officers approached Pauline — whom they say was wanted for questioning in an unconnected robbery investigation — they spotted a shotgun on the front passenger seat of the car. They also allegedly found methamphetamine while searching Pauline
Pauline was arrested and charged being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, two Class B felony offenses punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment, upon conviction, plus third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, a Class C felony carrying a maximum five-year prison sentence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At Pauline’s initial court appearance on Wednesday, Hilo District Judge Kanani Laubach maintained Pauline’s $60,000 bail and ordered him to return for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Thursday.
